Stay Relevant in this Market!

Staying relevant is not a big secret but may require a little work on your part. I have read so many articles and blogs in the past week about being relevant in this market...so here is Wikipedia's definition and a brief description (by me) of the three simple things you can do now to increase your relevancy.


Relevance is a term used to describe how pertinent, connected, or applicable something is to a given matter.... Wikipedia



Pertinent: Identify the skills and assets you bring that are "in-demand" at the firm/company you are targeting. Make sure the hiring manager knows that you have them and that you are very, very good at what you do!


Connected: Embrace the digital world. You must know and use social media in your career management strategy and as a part of your life. It connects you the world, and offers opportunities to showcase your relevancy.

Applicable: Highlight the skills, accomplishments, and experiences that are appropriate to the position(s) you are seeking. Before including it on your resume/bio/public profiles, ask yourself: "Is it relevant to the situation?"
